From New South Wales

From Sydney there are two major routes, the Pacific Coast Touring Route or the New England Highway, which begins at Newcastle. The Pacific Coast Touring Route is a shorter distance, but both journeys will take about the same time. Try going up one way and returning along the other.

from Interstate to Queensland

VIC

From Melbourne, the Newell Highway offers a direct route to South East Queensland with easy assess to Central Queensland via the Leichhardt of Western Plains Zoo, marks the halfway point to the Queensland Boarder. If you wish to travel to Queensland's Outback turn left at Dubbo then head north on the Mitchell Highway, which will take you to the boarder at Barrington and  the start of the Matilda Highway. An alternative route to Queensland is via the Great Inland Way which will lead you through the middle of the state and up to Cairns. Then of course, The Hume Highway or the Princes Highway (coastal route) are also great options.

From Victoria

Getting there

from Interstate to Queensland

SA

From Adelaide, travel along the Barrier Highway through Broken Hill to Nyngan where you can head  north along the Mitchell Highway to Queensland's Outback or continue through to Gilgandra. At Gilgandra, you can take the Great Inland Way or the Newell Highway leading you to South East Queensland. Alternatively follow the Sturt Highway to Narrandera and then the Newell Highway.
